What do socialism and utopia have in common?
Some actually believe the fantasy there is a place of ideal perfection - especially in laws, government, and social conditions. However, it is an impractical scheme for social improvement.
(adapted from the Merriam Webster definition of 'utopia')
Socialism is an economic and political theory advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods. It is the theory of a system of society or group living in which there is no private property. Marxists theorize this transitional between capitalism and communism, which is distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done.
Utopia and socialism are equally of the ignorant.
As noted in my book, the new settlements and British Colonies were settled as part of free market capitalist ventures and freedom from religious prosecution (among several other things - including speech and the right to being armed for defense of person, family and community). Once the settlements became colonies, they became quasi-socialist; not a term in the 1600-1700s, but the socioeconomic system existed.
Upon the birth of our greatest nation, our Founding Fathers they separated us from the quasi-socialism of nobility and serfs, and espoused the free market capitalism that only a democratic republic can function from.
Our Constitution sets up a democratic republic and fair taxation with representation. Socialism contradicts that; unconstitutional. Democratic Republic. That is what we were given and have grown from.
It is our history and our future.
So what are the arguments for socialism (a/k/a progressive, social justice, economic equality, economic justice, social equality, occupy, etc. – all are communism lite)?
First, let me be very clear – socialism is a clear and present danger to our Country and future. It is not a solution, it is a demise. Socialism can only be accomplished by everyone being reduced to the lowest common socioeconomic denominator. Economics is circular, not linear - and problems must deal with each sector of the circumference, not one end or the other of the linear equation. Historically, socialism has been a massive socioeconomic failure - and is in all of the current socialist economically driven countries – which also happen to be the remaining parliamentary monarch countries. In these countries, on average, 45% or more are paying all the taxes (on average, greater than 45-55%), and this does not include the European Socialist Union (USSR lite) Value Added Tax (VAT).
Supporters of socialism call it solidarity – where those that can afford more pay more, ‘shouldering the burden’ for those that cannot. Socialist countries do not have a free market - they have a high-tax driven market. It is the most upside down thinking possible - that 'free' exists for everyone and 'shouldered' on those that can afford it - solidarity my ass. Our conservative based free market capitalism has lasted at least twice as long than every other historic and current socioeconomic model based on hyper-taxation and 'social equality'. Economic results cannot be created - they are a result, and the natural result is a bell curve - some at the top, some at the bottom, and 2/3-3/4 in the middle. To create a result is linear - and appropriately a flatline - dead. This is not a country of socialism - we are a country of opportunity. I don't see the EU bloc, like their predecessor the USSR bloc, struggling with immigration (except radical muslims) - they have emigration issues. I have yet to meet any EU people happy about their taxes (most complain about their healthcare, none complain about their public transportation - but it saves them $8 per gallon for gas, socialism). Socialism - where the minority pushes their socioeconomic dreams on the majority, until they become the freeloading majority equalized on the shoulders of others. I'm not riding on anyone's shoulders. Anyone wants that free ride - hurry up and go. This is America, not the EU.
Socialists believe that there are no costs for services – from education to healthcare – taxes are not a cost to them, they are an investment in an opportunity or safety net. This is nonsense. Socialists believe that the exchange of higher taxes for actual services from their government is justified – although the taxes are onerous and shouldered by those who can pay more will pay more – a progressive tax (such as the USA has) on steroids.
I'm opposed to our current tax system (see Beers with our Founding Fathers – Tax Reform at http://www.beerswithourfoundingfathers.com/tax-reform.html) – abolish both 'progressive' taxation and the IRS. Our Country is not, has never been, an imperialist country (unlike most of the EU - who needed the colonies to support their early royally utopian fiefdoms). Someone show me the proof - in today's world - that socialism works. The EU is in an economic crisis much worse than our own, and that this Socialist in Chief is plummeting us into. Until the WWII, the US had a minimal military. After WWII, as Eisenhower warned against, we wrongly got in the business of the Military Industrial Complex (in its defense – the MIC prevented and ended the Cold War). Korea and Vietnam were about rescuing imperialist countries and democratic independence for their colonies.
We have a choice - stay a military and economic super power or let Russia and China have it. At historically different times, two of the smallest countries in the world had the largest empires and military - England and Japan. The latter does not because of the conditions of surrender. I'm for abandoning the UN, kicking their international socialist ass out of our Country and let them have the lot of international socialism and militarism all to themselves. Socialism is truly immature nonsense. (see Internationalism – Our Sovereign Country Under Attack at http://www.beerswithourfoundingfathers.com/3/post/2013/06/june-14th-2013.html).
The flat tax, the basis for my tax plan, eliminates many things - subsidies and handouts, domestic and reduction and foreign elimination. We have been in two world wars, and lesser wars, that started with the concept of international socialism – empire building).
Money earned is just that - earned. We are each entitled to the vast majority - 80-90 percent of our income; no one is entitled to mine. Our Country was debt free (essentially), and federal income tax did not exist, until the start of the 20th century and federal reserve. Utopia and socialism are equally of the ignorant. Moreover, socialism and its components are unconstitutional. Our Constitution sets up a democratic republic and fair taxation with representation. Socialism contradicts that; unconstitutional.

The GOP has lost its way - and I'm not sure its recoverable, at least in time to win the next election. A conservative party needs to be grounded in the roots of our Country's history - the Constitution - and the economy. To not pay attention to either is to give in to socialism.
I must emphasize – socialism is a clear and present danger to our Country and future. It is not a solution, it is a demise. If you are unhappy with the free market conservative foundation, history and culture of our Constitutional republic; and pine for the utopian fantasy of socialism - leave, move and find a place with this utopian socialistic existence. Our Country is not for you and is entirely unwelcome.
